The laptop is pretty awesome specially the weight . Thats a big achievment fom the 1520 series
. Other than that the configuration is pretty good. Lets go to the installations :-

The vista install is inherent in it amd works very well. All the devices work properly .The souns O/P is abit disappointing . But with a headphone everything is pretty good.

i) Windows XP install :- This one ios cumbersome. First download the latest bios firmware and update it. Then change the SATA mode to IDE. XP installs itself pretty well. Then comes the second cumbersome part . The driver install is tiresome. Dell does not provide it in its website. Yes but most of the driver can be found in the Intel website and the other vendors.

II)Ubuntu :- The best thing about Dell is it Ubuntu compatibility. Everything works in sync perfectly with Ubuntu .. All the devices work flawlessly with ubuntu..


Overall its very good in terms of looks and performance. The graphics card update can be preferred.
